Here are several practical tips on how to record an excellent demo video for your project, courtesy of ETHRome builders ❤️🏛️
- We recommend using Loom. It's free for videos under 5 minutes and works well in most situations (we have no affiliation and don't profit from this recommendation).
- This is not a Product Hunt or investor pitch. Feel free to be creative, but don't stress about making it perfect. If it takes more than 30 minutes to record, you're likely doing too much!
- For walkthrough or demo videos, we recommend a length of 2-3 minutes. Videos longer than 5 minutes risk losing viewers' attention.
- Record demo videos in landscape mode and full screen to avoid distractions. If you're demoing a mobile app, vertical screen mode is acceptable.
- It's better to record yourself in the demo video! Viewers will be more interested in your showcase if they can see who's behind it. Loom allows you to include your webcam while screen sharing!
- Keep personal introductions brief, but remember to introduce your project or product before delving into the details. Viewers need context on what and why you're building!
- Tell viewers what they can do with your product! The best demos invite people to explore and experience the product for themselves.
- Consider your demo as a presentation to your ideal customer/user. Don't try to make a demo for everyone; your target audience is those who will love what you're building!
